B schooled

Long time since I updated the blog and it would be grossly unfair on my part to attribute it to lack of time in a B school. The main reason has been my laziness to do anything but doze of all my free time or re run my favourite movies. The reason why I got myself to update the blog now has been because I completed the exam ahead of time and the wifi is usually switched off in hostels during the duration of test. So what can I do? Can’t doze off at ten in morning you see and my hard disk is not with meJ.

Enough of beating around the bush, so what have I learnt in last five months? A lot actually, not academically of course. Academically, my belief that Finance and me are not made for each other just got justified and amplified whole lot better. Also the fact that I am a lazy bum who rarely works was reiterated. If someone tells you life at B school is hectic, just shoot them. You get truck loads of time to do your assignments, participate in competitions and still get to sleep while attending lectures and guest lectures. But one thing you don’t find time is to cram up the contents of the usually pillow sized books. And to be fair to the authorities, though it is not easy to score ‘heavy’ unless you cram still you can get away with a semblance of decent score by just turning up and reading before the exam. And by the way you can get away without letting others know your cgpa, atleast have managed so far. Let us see how long I can continue doing the same J

Life in B school is a lot about people you meet and this cannot be stressed enough. And I have met people lots of them and each so very different. You can brand them into certain categories, the ones who have still not grown up and remain childish, in a good way and also some in a bad way. People, who are far ahead of the rest and who just need the college to get a namesake degree. Immensely talented individuals, who amaze you by their brilliance and also those that amaze you by their sheer stupidity. You find a whole knew meaning to the word desperation. ‘Desperate class participants’ to ‘desperate to score high’ and even ‘desperate to have fun’. Everything is done with desperation here. You meet people who hog limelight and people who are, ya you guessed it desperate for limelight, also there are the silent workers who just enjoy doing their bit and are confident their day will come. But the best part is you get to learn from them all. Observe them, get frustrated, sit in awe, get some real close buddies, some nice acquaintances. Deep down you know someday you will meet them all again and then it is going to be fun to know who ends up where.

Life in college is never complete without the professors, and boy do you meet characters. Honest, straight forward, downright boring, funny, inspiring, irritating, childish, whining, captivating. You name the adjective and you get a prof to associate with it. It has been fun serious fun sitting through lectures of a few of them. And some of them get on your nerves but still haven’t you seen them all through your life?

The parties, events, sports, competitions, bike rides, late night walks, cultures intermingling, the anxiety, frustrations it is mix of all this - college life. There are days when I just wonder if I made the biggest and costliest blunder of my life and some days it is just the pleasure of being away from civilisation, doing things that you love doing and also things you are forced to do. But it is one hell of a ride. Not sure if I will end up on a high or a low but guess need to enjoy the ride more while it lasts.
